Technical Consultant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Technical Consultant to work mainly on implementation and upgrade projects with our clients. Clients comprise of Banks, Hedge Funds, Fund Administrators, Asset Managers, Energy Companies and Insurance Companies.

Reporting to the Head of Professional Services, Americas, the successful candidate will work mainly on our Colline, Megara, Palmyra, Reform and Reporter Portal products.

· Recent experience working in technical support for a financial services company or a software product company in the financial
   industry is a huge plus
· Knowledge of trading, collateral management, insurance or financial services is a huge plus
· Must have a minimum of 3 years of “hands on” technical troubleshooting experience with distributed, enterprise applications.
  Knowledge of full life cycle software development is important
· Must be capable of handling multiple client projects simultaneously
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with client relationship skills
· Candidate must also have the interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with clients in handling issues, trouble-shooting production   
   issues, or responding to queries
· Candidate must be flexible and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership to follow assignments through
   to resolution
· A degree level education in Computer Science or equivalent
· Must be able to legally work in USA

Mission

The Responsibilities for this role will encompass the following:

· Leading workshops to identify and document client technical requirements
· Client facing technical project work to implement our systems (e.g. installation, configuration, integration)
· Providing client IT team with technical training
· Supporting clients and resolving issues during client testing
· Pre-sales meetings & project/task estimation
· Would suit someone with technical implementation experience or a development background who wants to move into a client facing
   role.
· Some travel may be required therefore it is essential the candidate can work and travel within the US and Canada
· Liaising with the global teams to provide a world class support service
· Developing the system requirements documentation to deliver client enhancements and to respond to new marketing requirements
· Liaise with development team and BAs during implementation projects

Profile

· Knowledge of web-based architecture
· Minimum 5 years “hands-on” experience in Java/J2EE and Oracle/MS-SQL
- Review java code and identify potential issues
- Make code changes and execute unit/system tests
- Familiar with RDBMS concepts to identify database problems
- Write/debug SQL statements to analyze data/resolve client issues
· Knowledge of the following:
- Knowledge of any J2EE application server (JBoss, Websphere, etc)
- Core Java, JDBC
- Knowledge any Web Framework (Struts, Spring, etc)
- Knowledge of major JBoss components like JBM and JBoss Cache
- Knowledge of basic/intermediate Unix commands
· Knowledge of application tuning will be very beneficial
- Basics of Java based application performance tuning
- Basics of database performance tuning
